Skiing has a long tradition on Mount Rigi. It was Rosa Dahinden-Pfyl, known as the Snowrose, who in 1906 initiated the first ski courses on Mt. Rigi and persuaded the Vitznau Rigi Railway to operate in winter. The Rigi therefore ranks as one of the pioneers of winter sport.
The slopes on Mt. Rigi are particularly suited to beginners, intermediates, families and children. The traffic free resort of Rigi Kaltbad and its cosy surroundings creates a chilled holiday atmosphere for all to enjoy. A further plus point is the fact that queueing at ski lifts is practically unheard of on Mt. Rigi.
